From Greenberg a long, good report about his conversation with Chamberlain on the 20th of May.

 

Chamberlain is offering us an area for colonization large enough for a million souls, with local self-government. Not in Uganda, but in that vicinity.

 

I am telegraphing to Greenberg: 

 

Having Paters report, who left yesterday for London, I consider Cork impossible for next years. We must take therefore Browns proposition into serious consideration,

אני מטלגרף אל גרינבֶּרג [באנגלית]:

על בסים הדוח של Pater (גוֹלדסמיד), שנסע אתמול ללונדון, סבורני ש־Cork [אל־עריש] היא עניין בלתי אפשרי בשנים הקרובות. עלינו להתייחס אפוא במלוא הרצינות אל הצעתו של Brown צֶ׳מבֶּרליין],
