12 März [1898]. Es beginnen die Rivalitäten. Noch habe ich die Vorbereitungen nicht beendigt, u. sie möchten mich schon absetzen. Die englischen Zionisten haben sich zwar auf der Conferenz vom 6 März den Baselern angeschlossen, aber wo das „Central-Committee“ sein solle, das möge der nächste Congress beschliessen. Warum wird dieses Selbstverständliche gesagt? Weil damit erklärt ist, das Vienna Com= mittee habe nur bis zum zweiten Congress zu dauern, dann komme das London Committee an die Reihe. Ich bin ja ganz einverstanden.   In den Actionscomitésitzungen werden nur laufende Kleinig= keiten erledigt. Schnirer ist zu beschäftigt, um für das Comité arbeiten zu können. Kokesch erledigt formell die Einläufe. Mintz schmollt häufig. Kremenezky

Rivalries are beginning. I still haven’t finished the preparations and they already want to depose me. At the conference on March 6 the English Zionists joined with the Basel ones, to be sure, but the next Congress is to decide where the Central Committee is to be located. Why is something so obvious stated? Because it is a declaration that the Vienna Committee must last only until the Second Congress, then will be the turn of the London Committee.

 

Well, it’s quite all right with me.

 

 

In the sessions of the Actions Committee, only everyday details are settled.

 

Schnirer is too busy to be able to work for the Committee. Kokesch formally takes care of incoming contributions. Mintz sulks frequently.

החלו היריבויות. עוד לא סיימתי את ההכנות וכבר מבקשים להדיח אותי. הציונים האנגלים אמנם הצטרפו בוועידתם מ־6 במארס ל[ציונים] של באזל, ואולם לדידם הקונגרס הבא צריך להחליט היכן ישב "הוועד המרכזי". מה הטעם שאומרים את הדבר המובן מאליו הזה? כי מצהירים על־ידי כך ש״ועד וינה" צריך לפעול רק עד הקונגרס השני, אחרי זה בא תורו של הוועד הלונדוני. 

הרי אני מסכים לגמרי.

בישיבות הוועד־הפועל מחליטים על עניינים פעוטים בלבד. שְנירֶר עסוק מכדי שיוכל לעבוד בשביל הוועד. קוֹקֶש מטפל באופן פורמלי בדואר הנכנס. מינץ מרבה לרטון.
