Dank erhalten. Dass das jüdische Gemeinwesen, das ich errichten möchte, klein, orthodox u. illi= beral sein muss, kann ich nicht zugeben. Ich habe drei Jahre lang an einer zusammenhängenden Antwort auf dieses u. ähnliche Bedenken gearbeitet. Lesen Sie nur(?) momentan die dieser mich jetzt Es ist ein Buch unter dem Titel  Altneuland geworden, das in einigen Wochen erscheinen wird u. Sie sollen unter den Ersten sein, denen ich es schicke. Ich habe nämlich einen Staatsroman unter dem Titel “Altneuland” gemacht u. darin das Bild der jüdischen Neuen Gesellschaft aufgerollt. Fuer “Gentiles and Christians” ist in ihr Platz u. gerade orthodox u. illiberal wird sie nicht sein. Den Hinweis auf unsere neue Gesellschaft werden wir nicht zu fürchten haben, sondern werden ihr wünschen, denn es wird kein engherziges    

I cannot agree that the Jewish commonwealth which I would like to set up will have to be small, orthodox, and illiberal. I worked for three years on a coherent reply to this and similar misgivings.

 שהקהילייה היהודית שאני מבקש לייסד תהיה בהכרח קטנה, אורתודוקסית ולא־נאורה – לכך לא אוכל להסכים. שלוש שנים עבדתי על תשובה מקיפה שתיתן מענה לחששות כאלה ודומים להם. 

היא היתה לספר ושמו אלטנוילנד, שיֵצא לאור בעוד כמה שבועות ואתה תהיה בין הראשונים שיקבלוהו.
