Wären Sie aber trotz meiner Warnung so unvorsichtig gewesen, so bitte ich Sie, mir dieselbe Adresse demselben Mann, dem Sie die  Erste die Firma nannten, sofort mitzutheilen, dass diese keine Provision bezahlt. ואולם בעניין זה, שלמרבה המזל לא היה אלא incident sans conséquence (אירוע חסר חשיבות), עלי להיות מכוסה לחלוטין ובכל הכיוונים. גם אינני רוצה כמובן להיות ה־dupe (השוטה) של אנשי הכספים וגם אינני רוצה שישטו בשלֶזינגֶר [ואמבֶּרי] באצ׳י היקר שלי. אני מקווה שלא נקבת באוזני איש בשם הפירמה; זה עלול לגרום לכך שיפנו אליה ישירות במוקדם או במאוחר. אך אם בכל זאת לא נזהרת די ונקבת בשמה למרות אזהרתי, אבקש שתודיע מיד לאיש שנקבת באוזניו בשם הפירמה, שאין היא משלמת דמי תיווך. חובת זהירות דחופה היא בעיני להודיע לך על כך, ואני מבקש ממך לאשר לי בכתב את הודעת הביטול הזאת.
