Hechler fährt zur Kirchenconferenz

nach Berlin. Ich habe ihm wieder

gewaltig zugeredet, den Kaiser zu be=

stimmen, dass er mich empfange.

If the provisional subscription yields only 800,000 pounds sterling, I shall be satisfied too. This will then give us a basis for the syndicate of guarantors which, to be sure, I could not get along without under those conditions. The provisional people will then constitute a unit in the share-issuing syndicate, and a few bigger bankers will have to be won in addition. If worst comes to worst, the Bank will be created with less basic capital.

Hechler is going to Berlin to attend the Church Conference. I again urged him strongly to induce the Kaiser to receive me.

אם ההחתמה הארעית תסתכם ב־800 אלף לירות שטרלינג בלבד, גם אהיה מרוצה. בכך יהיה בידינו בסיס בשביל סינדיקט הערֵבים, שבתנאים אלה אמנם לא אוכל לוותר עליו. החותמים הארעיים יהיו אז ישות אחידה בתוך סינדיקט ההנפקה ונצטרך לרכוש עוד כמה בנקאים גדולים יותר. במקרה הגרוע ביותר נצטרך לעשות את הבנק עם הון בסיסי קטן יותר.

הֶכלֶר יוצא לוועידת הכנסיות בברלין. חזרתי והפצרתי בו מאוד שישכנע את הקיסר שיקבל אותי.
