Falls sie näm= lich im Dienste oder Interesse des Consortiums Constans = Rouvier

והנה, כשבא טאחסין ובידו הדיווח של מַחמוּד נֶדים על שלושת המיליונים, העמיד הסולטאן פנים לפני טאחסין כאילו העניין מפתיע אותו, ואמר: התעניין מי האיש הזה.

ואולם אי־אפשר להעלות על הדעת שהזמנתו של איבּרָהים וכל המשא ומתן בפברואר נעשו ללא פקודה של הסולטאן. אך מתקבל על הדעת שאיבּרָהים העלים את מכתבַי האחרונים. אפשר גם שהמשא ומתן שניהלו אתי השנַיים – לאחר שקיבלו פקודה מן הסולטאן – אכן נוהל באופן שאצטרך לדחות [את ההצעות]. וזאת, אם אמנם פעלו בשירות השותפות קוֹנסטאן־רוּביֶה או לפי האינטרס שלה.
