In den Senat kommen alle berühmten Juden, die mit uns gehen. — Unter Schnitzeln finde ich heute zufällig einen Zettel, den ich in San Sebastian am Vor= abend meiner Abreise nach Paris schrieb. — Da heißt es: „Ich werde Galloschen haben, wie ein Ge­schäftsmann“  — Ich sah damals wie gewöhnlich, die ganze Entwicklung vor­aus — nur die Dauer und das Ende nicht. — Heute sage ich: ich werde mit den Herren der Erde als ihres­gleichen verkehren. — Den Männern in Glion. — Ich entwickle vor Ihnen jetzt nur, die moralisch politische und die finanzielle Seite, d. h. das Ziel das ich ebenso deut­lich sehe, wie den Ausgangspunkt. — Die Sache hat noch viele andere Seiten: tech= nische, militä­rische, diplomatische, administrative, volkswirthschaftliche, künstlerische etc. — Sie müssen mir vorläufig glauben, daß ich dafür ebenso Rath weiß, und meine Pläne aufgestellt habe. — Eine Section für Erfindungen, deren Corres= pondenten in Pa­ris, London, Berlin etc.  sofort

Among scraps of paper I today found a slip I wrote in San Sebastian on the eve of my departure for Paris. It says: “I shall have galoshes like a businessman's.”

לסֶנַט יוכנסו כל היהודים המפורסמים שילכו אתנו.

בתוך הפתקאות אני מוצא היום במקרה אחת שרשמתי בסַן־סֶבּאסטיאן ערב צאתי לפאריס. כתוב שם: "יהיו לי ערדליים, כמו לסוחר".

חזיתי שם כדרכי את כל מה שיהיה — מלבד את משך הזמן ואת הסיום. היום אני אומר: אתהלך עם גדולי עולם כשווה בין שווים.

עליכם להאמין לי לפי שעה, שגם בשביל אלה יש בידי פתרונות ושתוכניותי כבר ערוכות.
