daß kein allzu grotesker Adel eingeschmuggelt wird. — Denn wir brauchen für gewiße hohe Zwecke unserer Politik einen staatlichen Adel, wie wir auch einen einzigen Orden %nach Art der légion d'honneur% haben werden. —  Dieser Orden heißt die „Judenehre“! — Er hat ein gelbes Band, und so machen wir aus unserer alten Schande unsere neue Ehre. — Unsere besten Männer und nur unsere besten Männer dür­fen ihn tragen, so daß er sich dadurch in aller Welt die Ach­tung er= wirbt. — Für Geld wird er nicht erhältlich sein. — Sonst ist das kein Lohn mehr für unsere Leute, deren Leben wir manch­= mal verlangen oder die es uns freiwillig anbieten werden. — Im erblichen Adel setzen wir ja die Belohnung noch hinter den Tod, wir verlegen ihn in das Geschlecht. — Im Orden stellen wir die Belohnung mitten ins Leben, und das Volk erkennt gleich seine ausgezeichneten Männer. — Unsere Söhne!  Wie ich beim Verfaßen dieses Planes oft und zärtlich an mein Bübchen denke, das jetzt erst vier Jahre alt ist, so denken auch Sie an Ihre Söhne. — Ich wünsche Ihnen viele und tüchtige; wir werden alle unsere Buben brauchen. — Jetzt ist die Zukunft Ihrer Söhne eine Ihrer großen Sorgen, gestehen Sie es? — Sollen Sie wieder Banquiers aus ihnen ma= ­chen?  Oder Nichtsthuer, einfältige Sportman? — Im Staat oder im Heer wird man sie nirgends befehlen lassen, das se­hen Sie doch ein! — Zum finanziellen auch noch das wirkliche

This office will see to it that no overly grotesque nobility is smuggled in. For certain exalted purposes of our policy we need a State nobility, just as we shall have one single decoration (along the lines of the légion d'honneur [legion of honor]). This decoration will be called “Jewish honor”! It will consist of a yellow badge, and so we shall make our new honor out of our old disgrace. Our best men, and only they, will be allowed to wear it, which will bring it the respect of the entire world. It will not be available for money. Otherwise it would no longer be a reward for our people whom we shall sometimes ask to give their lives, or who will offer their lives to us. In the hereditary nobility we give the reward after death, that is, we bestow it on the descendants.

 

With our decoration we shall place the reward in the middle of life, and the nation will immediately recognize its oustanding men.

 

Our sons! Just as I have frequently and tenderly thought of my little boy, who is only 4 years old now, during the drawing up of this plan, you, too, will be thinking of your sons. I wish you numerous and able ones; we shall need all of our boys. Right now the future of your sons is one of your big worries—will you admit this? Will you again make bankers out of them, or loafers, simple-minded sportsmen? They will not be allowed to give any orders anywhere, in the government or in the army; you realize that, don’t you? No one will turn the real command over to you in addition to the financial one.

הלשכה הזאת תדאג לכך שלא לאפשר לתואר אצולה גרוטסקי כלשהו שיסתנן אלינו. שכן לשם מטרות נעלות מסוימות של הפוליטיקה שלנו אנו זקוקים לאצולת מדינה, כשם שיהיה לנו גם עיטור־כבוד אחד ויחיד (בדומה ל־légion d’honneur הצרפתי). עיטור־הכבוד הזה ייקרא "כבוד־היהודים״! הוא יינשא על סרט צהוב, וכך נהפוך את קלוננו העתיק לכבודנו החדש. האנשים המצוינים שלנו, ורק המצוינים, יישאו אותו כדי ששמו ילך לפניו בעולם כולו. לא יהיה אפשר לקנותו בכסף. שאם לא כן, שוב לא יהיה בבחינת גמול לאנשינו, שאנו תובעים מהם לפעמים למסור לנו את חייהם, לאלה שינדבו לנו את חייהם מרצונם. באצולה העוברת בירושה מועבר הגמול גם לאחר המוות, הוא עובר לדור הבא.

באמצעות עיטור־הכבוד אנו מעניקים את הגמול בעוד האיש בחיים, והעם ידע מיד מי הם המובחרים שבאנשיו.

בָּנֵינו! כשם שאני מרבה לחשוב על בני הקטן, שהוא רק בן ארבע, בעוד אני מתקין את התוכנית הזאת, כך גם אתם חושבים על בניכם. אני מאחל לכם שיהיו לכם בנים רבים ומוכשרים; כולנו נזדקק לנערים שלנו. היום, הדאגה לעתיד בניכם היא אחת הדאגות הגדולות המטרידות אתכם, האם תודו בזה? האם תשובו לעשות מהם בנקאים? או שמא הולכי בטל או ספורטאים צרי־אופק ? בשום מקום לא יפקידו בידיכם את הפיקוד לא בענייני המדינה ולא בענייני הצבא, הלוא את זאת אתם מבינים! איש לא ייתן בידיכם את הפיקוד האמִתי בתוספת לזה הפיננסי.
