Der Judenstaat ist ein Weltbedürfniß. —

Man wird in den Tempeln für mich beten. — Aber

Wenn Sie mich in einen Gegensatz zu

Ihnen zwingen, werde ich auf der zweiten

Stufe, an die ich nicht recht glaube — möglich

ists ja immerhin — alle mittleren und klei=

nen Millionäre um mich versammeln. — Eine

zweite formidable jüdische Geldmacht marschirt

auf. — Denn ich werde in der ersten Zeit wo ich

Ich habe auch gegen das Bankgeschäft kei=

nen Wiederwillen, wenn es der Zweck erfordert —

so wenig wie gegen Spedition, Bau, etc. —

Goethe, Goethe!

For three hours I tramped around the Bois in order to walk off the pangs of new trains of thought. It grew worse and worse. Now I am sitting at Pousset’s, writing them down and feeling relieved. It is true that I am also drinking beer.

The Jewish State is a world necessity.

They will pray for me in the synagogues. But in the churches as well.

If you force me into opposition to you, I shall in the second stage—which I do not quite believe in, although it is certainly possible—gather about me all medium and smaller millionaires. A second formidable Jewish financial force will march up. For in the initial period, when I have no use as yet for the fully deposited billion, I shall have to engage in banking transactions.

I have no more aversion to banking, if the cause requires it, than I have to transportation, construction, etc.

But will Europe bear both you and us?

גֶתֶה, גֶתֶה! שלוש שעות שוטטתי ב־[Bois [de Boulogne כדי לתת דרור לעינויים של מצעדי מחשבות חדשים. המצב הלך והחמיר. עכשיו אני יושב אצל פּוּסֶה ורושם אותן, והוקל לי. אני גם שותה בירה כמובן.

מדינת־היהודים היא צורך העולם.

יתפללו לשלומי בבתי־הכנסת. אך גם בַּכנסיות!

[למועצת המשפחה:]

אם תאלצו אותי להתייצב נגדכם, אזי מן המגזר השני אכנס סביבי את כל המיליונרים הבינוניים והקטנים; בעצם, אינני מאמין בהם אבל הדבר בכל זאת אפשרי. הנה קמה ועולה מעצמת ממון יהודית שנייה, מרשימה. שהרי בזמן הראשון, כשעדיין לא אוכל להשתמש במיליארד שכבר שולשל כולו לקופה, אצטרך לעשות עסקים בנקאיים.

אינני סולד גם מעסקי הבנקאות כשהם משמשים את המטרה, כשם שאינני סולד משירותי הובלה, בנייה וכו'.

אבל האם אירופה תוכל לשאת אתכם ואותנו?
